You’ve said your vows and promised to stick with another during sickness and health.  So, what happens when the health part gets tossed out the window as the post wedding stress dissolves and those extra calories begin to sneak their way back around your waistlines?

If you and your significant other are in the same boat, or are about to sink but are looking for a life line, then here are 5 ways to stay fit together.

  1. Stock Healthy Choices

If you don’t have unhealthy options to choose from, chances are you’re not going to eat unhealthy, right?  Grocery shopping is your first step towards shedding the pounds or steering clear of adding some unwanted ones. Think about all the meals you’re going to make at home but more importantly, consider your snack options.  Try new foods together to help get over the feeling or boredom that can come from the same meals week in and out as well.

  1. Cooking Healthy at Home

One of the easiest ways to ensure that the two of you not only stay in shape but stay healthy is to cook at home.  Sometimes this can be tricky with busy work schedules but it’s not impossible to do.  Cooking together can be a great time to unwind and share your day with your significant other and also a great time to create something delicious and healthy together.  As far as what to cook, the sky is the limit.  Get online and search out healthy options for whatever you enjoy whether you’re going all veg, meat or fish.

  1. Pack a Lunch

Now, if you’re one to stand in line at the local salad bar or perhaps grab something healthy from the grocery deli section every lunch hour then chances are that you’re eating well. If however, you’re one to grab on the go and tend to gravitate towards fast food for your fix every day then it’s only a matter of time before those meals are hurting more than just your wallet.

  1. Work it Out

The obvious way to stay in shape after marriage is to work out whether it be with an at home trainer or a two memberships to your local gym.

Alternatively, get some equipment for the house and work out together or on your own.  To keep motivated, challenge one another to reach new milestones and remind one another to put in their time!

  1. Get Romantic!

A great way to lose calories without feeling like you’re exercising is getting intimate with your honey!  Locking lips can burn about 90 calories in an hour and having sex burns up to 144 in 30 minutes.  Sounds like a pretty fun way to keep fit together huh?
