4 Ways to Keep to Your Wedding Budget

Planning a wedding can be an expensive endeavor ranging anywhere from thousands to tens of thousands depending on how extravagant your big day is going to be.

When putting together your budget it’s important to not only be realistic about the costs of the items and services that you’re looking for but also know what you want and can spend before starting your bookings.

Here are four things to keep an eye on to ensure that your budget stays on point.

  1. Guest list

One of the easiest things to let slide is the number of guests on your list.  It may start out small and intimate and soon you’ll find yourself adding on distant cousins and girlfriends or boyfriends of friends that you may not have anticipated inviting as part of your original budget.   Create a number that you’re comfortable with based on your per head costs for the venue as a guideline and give yourself a buffer up and down from there.  This way if you decide to allow for some extra guests you’ll be in the clear.

  1. Wedding Insurance

For many couples, this is not something on the list of to dos when planning a wedding however, considering the investment behind planning your celebration, it makes good sense to protect yourself.  Finding the right coverage will help with costs of the unexpected which can range from lost wedding rings, to issues with vendors or venue and even weather.  Check out more about wedding insurance here.

  1. Shop Local or Shop Abroad

A common misconception for many brides and grooms-to-be is that shopping in India is more cost effective than going local.  Finding the perfect look for you and your wedding party can be achieved without having to fly half way across the world and when you actually work out the costs of flight, hotel, travel, food and more, it is a lot more sensible to shop with someone in your own city.

  1. Preplan Online Shopping

Finding just the right bombanier, wedding cake topper or invitations may be achieved by ordering online however, the costs can take you way off budget if your item doesn’t make it to you in time.  If you’re going to go with an online provider take the time to research their credibility, call them to double and triple check your expected delivery time and always make sure to give yourself an extra week or two if possible for deliveries that may still end up coming in late.

Once you have a guideline to follow in terms of expenses, you’ll be able to easily navigate through your budget and steer clear of the stress of extra money being spent for things that you had not planned for.
