A little something from us: thoughtful ideas for wedding favours

You’re so close!  You’ve budgeted for the cake, the clothes, the food, the wine, the music, the venue, the dessert and that photobooth you both just needed to have for the guests to enjoy during the night.  It may seem like you have everything for your wedding reception planned and taken care of when you remember the take away or more popularly known as the bombaniere.

With 500 guests this can get overwhelming not only to organize but also cost wise.  You also want to ensure that whatever you’re giving away is something people want and won’t throw out when they get home.  Lastly, it needs to work with your theme, colours and overall feel of the night which of course is celebration!

Thank you gift

There are truly thousands of things that you can choose to gift to those that attend your wedding or reception, the trick is finding the right item to fit all of these criteria or the ones that matter most to you.  Here are some great options depending on what you’re going for.

Sweet Nothings

For the couple that loves to indulge in sweets a great option is a candy bar.  Candy bars are not only fun but also allow your guests to customize what they’d like to snack on as a sweet reminder of your night.  The other benefit of a candy bar is the cost behind it.  You can have a company set one up for you or you can easily put one together yourself.  Simply decide on your candy options and grab them from bulk stores like Costco or Bulk Barn.  You can also set up a table with candy jars in various sizes which are also available at your local Walmart, Michaels or yes, the Dollar Store!  Grab some fun bags and scoops and leave the rest to your guests.

New Beginnings

Depending on your theme a great environmentally responsible bombanier is a tree sapling.  These are available with customizable tags as well to share a special message with your guests and can be found from a number of providers.  The wonderful thing about the tree saplings is that the environment benefits from your union, and truly is a gift that never stops giving to more than just the guests that take it home and plant it.

The More the Merrier

Another bombanier that never gets old is a donation in the name of your guests to a charity that is important to you as a couple.  With all the not-for-profits out there, the sky is the limit and the most difficult thing about this bombaniere can be choosing the recipient.  Once you’ve decided on whom to go with check with them ahead of time and let them know that you are planning to have this be part of your wedding.  They may be able to share additional items for the wedding or help in other ways in exchange for this great gift back to them.

Someone Need A…

Depending on your wedding or reception, sometimes the best bombanier is something that your guests need right then!  Outdoor weddings during the afternoons may call for sunglasses, making these a no brainer for each guest to collect when they register at the front table.  If you’re lucky enough to have a beach wedding or destination wedding consider flip flops that guests can wear for the rest of their trip.

Bye Bye Now

For those that want to gift their guests as they leave, a bombanier growing in popularity is a simple bottle of water with a personalized tag.  You can add any message you like to the tag and it’s something that most guests are sure to take when they leave after a full night of dinner, entertainment and dancing.  There are a number of companies that can provide this service to you or if you’re feeling especially artsy you can always design and print your own labels to put onto bottles that you can buy in any bulk store.
