Warming Up Your Winter Wedding

‘Tis almost the season, and while many are planning their holiday parties, writing out gift lists and figuring out how to keep in shape while heading towards a calorie filled season some excited brides and grooms-to-be are putting the final touches on their winter weddings.

If you’re looking for some creative ways to keep your guests warmed on the inside and out here are four things to consider adding to your big day.

Fireplace

Something to think about when you’re booking a venue for your winter wedding is a fireplace.  Not only will it keep guests nice and toasty but will help set the mood of the ceremony and add undeniable romance.  The challenge of course if finding a venue that actually has one!  If you’re unable but are still looking to set the tone, speak with your decorator about a faux fireplace.

Soup’s On!

While snow cone bars or sundae stations are an undeniable hit for summer weddings, they don’t bring that warm and fuzzy feeling you want for a winter wedding.  A great way to offer a fun food station with tons of variety that is sure to keep guest warm is a soup bar.  Choose your favourites and take it up a notch and name the soups specifically for the big day.  Once they’ve selected their soup they can move on to top it with a range of toppings like cheese, chives, croutons and more.

Stay Warm

Winter weddings are not always the best to travel to especially if you park well beyond site of the front door.  Keep your guests warm on their way back home with a little keepsake that will remind them of the lovely evening they shared with you while protecting themselves against the rest of the ruthless winter days to come.  Choose from scarves, gloves or even hand warmers that can each be personalized with your monogram or a small message if you like.  You can also colour coordinate with your decor to tie it all together.

Cocoa For All

A must have for all winter weddings is a cocoa station.  This is the perfect add on for any menu and is sure to warm up everyone at the party regardless of age.  While having a traditional hot chocolate station is sure to have all guests smiling, you can also create a grown up version with options to add in Baileys or Kahlua or change it up and offer flavoured syrups to allow your guests to enjoy more than just the cocoa like hazelnut or mint chocolate.
